Parents are thrilled when they find programming that uplifts, inspires, and teaches children inpositive ways, while children never tire of music and fun even when wrapped around a lesson.
The best of these worlds is found in Away We Go!!, a half-hour children’s television series focusing on the understanding and acceptance of the differences found in all of us, that is unique,entertaining, and fun-filled. Helping us appropriately communicate the vital lessons covered inthese important topics, is our team of experts and consultants. Sensitivity and appropriateness are key words to discussing differences affecting children such as stuttering, autism, attention deficit disorder and speech/language disorders in an upbeat and understanding way. They are just as important when covering themes of everyday emotional and personal concern, including: shyness, sadness, and low self-esteem, as well as dealing with race, culture, and other general conditions that make us different. The Away We Go!! Content Development Team takes a well thought-out, hands-on approach to encourage and inspire in our young the emotional development of consideration, acceptance, empathy, and kindness.
The show’s host is Miss Lisa, a nationally licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist who will lead an energizing group of life-sized Puppet Friends in the fun lessons and activities designed around the show’s themes. Each puppet character, living with their own challenge that makes them “special,” will help our young audience open their eyes, minds, and hearts to see human differences in a new light. There is one Puppet Friend who has trouble focusing on one activity and just can't slow down his speech or his actions. There is another who is a savant with strong social challenges. One Friend is terribly shy and one has seemingly no issues aside from lacks compassion and has no empathy for the plight of others. Other rotating characters and special guests will join us at varying times to add to the lessons imparted and the fun we share along the way. In Away We Go!! the characteristics of disabilities and differences are discussed, but never “labeled.”
Our studio will be a warm and inviting backyard setting with a Green Screen background reflecting ever-changing times and moods of the day. Most of the general activities between Miss Lisa and her Friends happen in this beautiful setting. Miss Lisa will also take her hot air balloon adventures into the “real world,” lending a hand to children and adults in need of help or to assist with education and understanding.
Each imaginative episode incorporates a number of important topics we will cover including:Respect for others; Self-pride; Accepting one’s own weaknesses; Finding inner strength; Ethicsand morals; Listening to others and themselves; Patience and understanding; Caring and sharing;Practicing kindness; Accepting others for who they are; Building confidence, and Developing keycommunication skills.
